Losing Weight: My Reasons

One of the things that The Beck Diet recommends I do in order to get on track with my weight loss is to make a list of all of the reasons I want to lose weight. Reviewing this list every day will help me keep my eyes on the goal. It’s a part of the changing your thinking / changing your behaviour component of this program. If I feel like bingeing, but I stop and take some time to read my list, then I very well could derail the crash and keep heading on track. So for the first two weeks I’m supposed to read my list of reasons every morning when I get up (and more often is recommended until I get settled into my new routine). So here are my reason:

  1. I’ll look better and be more attractive.
  2. I’ll have more confidence.
  3. I can reverse my type 2 diabetes.
  4. I’ll be able to wear anything other than track pants.
  5. I’ll be able to buy some of the sexy underwear I see in magazines.
  6. I’ll like what I see in the mirror.
  7. I won’t feel so self-conscious.
  8. I’ll get more compliments.
  9. I’ll get cruised on the street.
  10. I’ll feel better physically.
  11. I’ll have more stamina.
  12. I’ll have more energy.
  13. I’ll feel more optimistic.
  14. I’ll be less inhibited about my body.
  15. I’ll have sex more often and enjoy it instead of feeling embarrassed, ashamed, uneasy, unsure, and nervous.
  16. I’ll like myself better.
  17. I’ll be less self-critical.
  18. I’ll do more things in public, such as dancing or swimming at the YMCA’s pool.
  19. I’ll be more assertive.
  20. I’ll be more comfortable eating in front of others.
  21. I’ll feel in control.
  22. I’ll be able to go for runs.
  23. I’ll travel.
  24. I’ll discover who I am.
